About Me
Background
I'm interested in helping you get to where you need to be, whatever that looks like. Going through difficult times and experiencing counselling myself led to self-discovery, awareness and the clear understanding that within ourselves we have the power to make changes and live and feel differently.
There were times that I felt judged, dismissed and with my self-esteem low I experienced conflicting emotions, at times feeling totally lost. Talking about myself in a deep way with someone I didn't know felt both scary and a bit selfish. When I eventually took that step years ago, it was the key to unlocking my awareness, my sense of self. It enabled me to understand why I felt the way I did, why I responded the way I did. Therapy gave me tools to start getting myself back on track, and to grow.
Before I trained as a counsellor my background was in teaching, education and, further back, in banking. I am a parent of adult children and have worked in not-for-profit organisations for young adults. Since qualifying I have worked in the NHS, in local community services and in private practice.
I am here to help you if and when you decide to make the first step on your own healing journey.
